In the large international schools in Phuket, tuition is about $1,400+ USD per child, per month.
This is a sensitive topic, but it’s not discussed enough. Many families arrive here hoping to find great, affordable private education. Here’s the reality:
Private education is expensive. Full stop.
And like everything else, there’s a wide range. We’ll get to all of it, but for now, let’s focus on the larger, more expensive schools—those that run from kindergarten through high school.

Here’s what you need to know:
Startup Costs (One-Time Fees):
- Registration fee: ~$2,000
- Entrance fee: ~$1,430
- Refundable deposit: ~$1,430 (with conditions)
Academic Year:
- 180 school days per year (compared to 220 in Israel)
- No frameworks in summer—just summer camps, which average ~$570/week
Annual Tuition (Averages):
- Elementary school: ~$15,700/year
- Middle school and up: ~$20,000/year
- Annual increase: 5–10%
Note: Prices vary by age and school, and some fees are bundled while others are not.
What’s not included in tuition:
- Uniforms (mandatory)
- School transportation (optional)
- Extracurriculars
- Books and stationery
Things to keep in mind:
- Some schools offer sibling discounts.
- Schools are nearly full—if you have more than one child, check availability in all relevant age groups.
- Yes, people try to negotiate tuition. It usually doesn’t work, but feel free to ask.
