What are the Best Viewpoints in Phuket?

Phuket is full of views that stop you in your tracks.
Doesn’t matter where you are, what time of day it is, or which direction you’re facing — it’s stunning.

Want sunrises? Look east — Rawai, Chalong.
Chasing sunsets? Head west — Nai Harn, Kata, Karon, Patong, Kamala, Bang Tao, Surin.

If you want the big-picture version of the island, start with these five:

1. Promthep Cape

The island’s most iconic viewpoint — southern tip, wide skies, unbeatable horizon.
Clear days are best, but even in bad weather, it hits.
There’s also a statue garden and a restaurant if you want to turn it into a proper stop.

2. Windmill Viewpoint

Just above Nai Harn and Ya Nui. Not a secret, but still worth it.
Bring a blanket and sit on the grass for sunset. Or just drop in, snap some photos, and move on. It’s beautiful either way.

3. Khao Khad (Panwa Viewpoint)

Low-key and peaceful.
Looks out over southeast Phuket — Chalong and nearby islands.
Quiet, photogenic, and a nice breather if the rest of your day’s been full-on.

4. Rang Hill

For something different: a city view.
You’ll find it just above Phuket Town. There’s a café on the way up (check your highlights).
You can bring the kids or not. Either way, it’s a good place to sit, look out, and reset. Especially at night.

5. Karon Viewpoint

Quick stop on the drive from Rawai to Karon.
You’ll see three beaches stacked in perfect view: Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon.
Want to avoid the crowds? There’s a turnoff just before the main viewpoint with a quieter path.
Skip the monkeys and souvenir hawkers — take a walk instead.

Yes, you could skip the viewpoints.
But why would you?
