Paperwork Needed

General Documents for All Applicants:
  • Passport: A valid passport with a minimum of 18 months validity from the application date.
  • Photographs: Recent passport-sized colour photographs (4×6 cm) taken within the last six months.
  • Application Form: Completed and signed LTR Visa application form.
  • Health Insurance: Proof of health insurance coverage in Thailand with a minimum of $50,000 USD coverage.
  • Financial Evidence: Evidence of financial stability, such as bank statements or proof of income.

Additional Documents for Specific Categories:

Wealthy Global Citizens:
  • Proof of Assets: Evidence of assets totalling at least $1 million USD.
  • Investment Proof: Documentation of an investment of at least $500,000 USD in Thai government bonds, foreign direct investment, or Thai property.

Wealthy Pensioners (Retirees):
  • Age Verification: Proof of age (50 years and above).
  • Income Proof: Documentation of an annual income of at least $80,000 USD over the past two years.
  • Investment Proof: If passive income is between $40,000 and $80,000 USD, evidence of an investment of at least $250,000 USD in Thai government bonds, foreign direct investment, or Thai property.

Work-from-Thailand Professionals:
  • Employment Contract: A valid employment contract or service agreement with a business in Thailand or abroad.
  • Work Experience: Proof of at least 5 years of relevant experience in the targeted industry.
  • Income Proof: Documentation of an annual income of at least $80,000 USD over the past two years.
  • Educational Qualifications: If passive income is between $40,000 and $80,000 USD, proof of a Master’s degree or above, significant intellectual property ownership, or Series A funding of no less than $1 million USD.

Highly-Skilled Professionals:
  • Employment Contract: A valid employment contract or service agreement with a Thai business.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in one of the targeted industries.
  • Income Proof: Documentation of an annual income of at least $80,000 USD over the past two years.
  • Educational Qualifications: If passive income is between $40,000 and $80,000 USD, possession of a Master’s degree in a science or technology field, or special expertise relevant to the position.

Additional Requirements:

  • Dependents: For applicants including dependents, provide:
    • Marriage certificate for spouses.
    • Birth certificates for children under 20 years old.
  • Work Permit: If applying for a work permit, include:
    • Employer’s letter of support.
    • Company registration documents.
  • Dependents: Spouses and children of LTR Visa holders are eligible to apply for the visa as dependents. Each family member must submit an individual application and meet the necessary requirements.
  • Renewal: The LTR Visa is initially granted for a 5-year period and can be renewed once for an additional 5 years, totalling a 10-year stay.

How to Obtain:

Eligibility Check: Ensure you meet the specific criteria for one of the four categories:
  1. Wealthy Global Citizens
  2. Retirees
  3. Skilled Professionals
  4. Remote Workers
Document Preparation: Gather all necessary documents, including proof of income, assets, and health insurance.
Application Submission: Apply through the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) website or at a Thai embassy or consulate in your country.
Processing: Wait for the application to be processed.
Approval: Upon approval, receive your LTR Visa and comply with any additional requirements, such as reporting to Thai Immigration annually.
